Amanda Anisimova, Monica Puig and Elise Mertens posted moments of their life during the Covic-19 pandemic on their social media profiles. ATP and WTA decided to suspend all events until, at least, June 7, canceling and postponing many important tournaments. For the first time, the entire clay swing will not be played; the French Open, in full autonomy decided to postpone the tournament from 20 September to 8 October 2020, a decision that attracted much criticism.
In the meantime, the players spend their time in their homes, always respecting the rules of behavior that a situation like the Coronavirus pandemic requires. Anisimova, Puig and Mertens have one thing in common: all three posted photos with their dogs on their social networks.
Anisimova posted a photo on her Instagram account with her little Chihuahua, writing "When things didn't seem too bad a week ago ... tough time right now, but stay safe everyone !!" The American has 162,000 followers on Instagram. Puig also posted a photo on Instagram with her on the sofa with her two beautiful dogs. She has 506k followers on Instagram. Finally, Elise Mertens, on her Twitter account, followed by more than 18k followers, put photos with her relaxing in a garden with her collie.
The lockdown, a consequence of the pandemic, is leading many players to spend leisure time at home. Sloane Stephens, for example, enjoyed sharing some of her favorite TV shows, writing: "Since we're all social distancing and spending more time at home I thought I'd share some of my favorite TV shows if you haven't watched them already."
Other former tennis players, like Roberta Vinci and Conchita Martinez, spent their time differently, one with a view of the evening city from the balcony and the other with a workout on the exercise bike. These are also shortcuts of life in the time of Covid-19.
