The governing body of tennis association in Great Britain (LTA) has gifted British players stationary bikes so they can stay fit during the coronavirus pandemic.

Former British tennis player Mark Petchey praised LTA's move as he said in a Twitter post: "Good gesture from the LTA to give players bikes whilst unable to compete."

Promising Briton Paul Jubb, 20, thanked the LTA for their gift in a Twitter post.

Last week, the ATP suspended the men's professional Tour for six weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak.

This week, the ATP extended the Tour suspension through to June 07.

"After careful consideration, and due to the continuing outbreak of COVID-19, all ATP and WTA tournaments in the Spring clay-court swing will not be held as scheduled. This includes the combined ATP/WTA tournaments in Madrid and Rome, along with the WTA events in Strasbourg and Rabat and ATP events in Munich, Estoril, Geneva and Lyon," the ATP and WTA said in a joint statement.

"The professional tennis season is now suspended through 7 June 2020, including the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF World Tennis Tour. At this time, tournaments taking place from 8 June 2020 onwards are still planning to go ahead as per the published schedule."

The grass court season is scheduled to kick off on June 8 as each year ATP 250 events in Stuttgart and 's-Hertogenbosch mark the beginning of the grass season.
