Dominic Thiem reveals more details on the split with Nicolas Massu

Dominic Thiem revealed new details about the end of his professional relationship with Nicolas Massu.

The straw that broke the camel's back was the defeat in the quarterfinals of the Estoril tournament against Quentin Halys, but the latter represented only the tip of the iceberg of a working relationship that was no longer producing fruit, as stated by Thiem himself in an interview granted to the official Roland Garros website:

"It helped me a lot to know that it was a mutual decision, because when I asked him to speak last week, after the Estoril match, and I communicated my decision, told me that if I didn't ask him to talk, he would be the one to tell me that the best thing to do was stop working together.

In the world of sport it is very normal to want to open new chapters, and this is not influenced by the good personal relationship one has or the successes achieved. I'm very happy with everything I've experienced with Massu and I'm also excited about what's to come."

Breakage Thiem-Massu, the Austrian: "Everything has an end"

Like a bolt from the blue, last April 9, two days after the burning debacle against Halys in Estoril, Dominic Thiem announced his separation from Nicolas Massu on his social profiles.

It must not have been easy for the two to say goodbye after having achieved glory together, but the end of their professional relationship was at least made less bitter by the fact that it came in a consensual way on both sides.

He said: "What an incredible journey. It all started at the beginning of 2019, when you arrived with your incredible energy and extreme love for sport”, Thiem began in the post published on his channels.

The Austrian reminded the many: “That's how we won the US Open and Indian Wells. But we also reached the finals of the Australian Open, the French Open and twice at the Nitto ATP Finals. I think this shows that we have been an incredible team."

Then the conclusion: "But unfortunately everything has an end and this end has come now. We have decided together that we will continue on different paths from next week. Heartfelt thanks for this incredible and beautiful time Nico. Wishing you only the best and our friendship will last forever."
