World No. 82 Stefano Travaglia was extremely satisfied with the way he performed against rising American star Taylor Fritz at the ATP Cup.
Travaglia, 28, clinched one of his biggest wins on Tuesday when he stunned world No. 31 Fritz 7-6 (3) 7-6 (1) in the opening rubber of the tie between Italy and the United States.
The Italian failed to serve out for the first set in the 10th game but kept his focus as he cruised past the first set tie-break to win the opener.
As no breaks were seen in the second set, the set went into a tie-break -- where Travaglia lost the first set before winning seven in a row to seal a straight-set win.
"I was feeling good from the beginning," Travaglia said, per the ATP Cup. "I was feeling good with the return first and with my serve too - better than in the past two matches. I think I adapted very well in these conditions in the evening, no wind, no heat and it was slower. The courts were slower than the practice court... I think it is my best result of maybe the past two years. I'm very happy of this result."
Top-ranked Italian Fognini then secured the win over the United States as he beat John Isner in the second rubber of the tie.
