Simone Bolelli, 34, enjoys playing together with 32-year-old Fabio Fognini as he feels confident whenever he shares the same side of the net with his close friend.
The Italians came up clutch at the ATP Cup on Sunday as they beat Viktor Durasovic and Casper Ruud of Norway 6-3 7-6 (3) in the deciding rubber of the tie.
Bolelli and Fognini are a proven doubles team, having won the 2015 Australian Open title.
"Every time that I play with Fabio I feel confident. We know each other very well, so we know how to play on court. We have our strategies. And I knew that it was tough because these guys beat a very good doubles team on the first day [Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek of the United States]," Bolelli said, per the ATP Cup.
World No. 84 Stefano Travaglia beat Durasovic in the opening rubber of the tie, before Ruud saw off Fognini to force a deciding rubber.
Italy, who plays next against the United States, has improved to 1-1 in Group D.
