The four-story sports complex Shamil Tarpishchev Tennis Academy has been put up for sale in Kazan, according to the GoTennis.ru website. The announcement first appeared on the Avito website and the cost of the facility is 360 million rubles.
The announcement says that the area of the complex is over 13.6 thousand square meters and the complex includes 17 tennis courts, a gym, billiards, swimming pools, as well as surface parking and underground parking.
The Shamil Tarpishchev Tennis Academy was commissioned on December 29, 2010. Its founder was a philanthropist and Kazan entrepreneur Murmani Pipia.
The academy was constructed on the basis of private investment. Currently, the tennis academy is continuing to work in its regular schedule.
Tarpishchev is a former Russian tennis player and current coach. From 1974 to 1991, he has been the head coach of the USSR, CIS (1992) and Russian (since 1997) female and male tennis teams. In 2002, he became a member of the Council under the President of Russia on Physical Culture and Sport, Chairman of the Committee on Development of Priority Directions of the State Policy in the sphere of physical culture and sports, as well as the Strategy of Development of Sports in Russia. Since 1994, Tarpishchev is a Member of the Executive Committee of the Russian Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee.
In 2014, Tarpishchev left the position as captain for the Russian Fed Cup team and was replaced by Anastasia Myskina.
According to Wikipedia, Tarpishchev holds the record for most wins as Team Captain of the Russian Davis Cup team, breaking the earlier record held by Australian Neil Fraser.
