Episode 14 of AEW Dark from Jacksonville, Florida featured the Nightmare Collective smash an AEW newcomer and Christopher Daniels battling the yips from his botch as he competed in trios action with SCU.
Here’s the lineup with ratings (watch, solid, okay, pass) on which matches are worth your time:
- Awesome Kong vs Skyler Moore (pass)
- Jack Evans, Angelico, & Kip Sabian vs SCU (okay)
It was a much shorter show this week at about 30 minutes and with only two matches. Awesome Kong had a squash bout. The trios bout was what you would expect from those six and had a banging finish. There was a little bit of character development for Christopher Daniels.

Tony Schiavone and Dasha Gonzalez welcomed us to the broadcast. Chuck Taylor joined Excalibur on commentary.
Awesome Kong vs Skyler Moore
Awesome Kong was accompanied by Brandi Rhodes and Mel. Skyler Moore fought with fire, but she was no match for Kong. At one point, Moore tried to seize momentum by dodging a corner attack. Moore climbed the turnbuckle, then Kong kabonged her with a spinning backfist.

Kong put Moore on her shoulders for a torture rack variation. Kong tried to bend Moore in half backwards like an accordion. Despite the pain, Moore attempted a school girl roll-up. That strategy failed. Kong sat on top of her. Brandi ordered more punishment, so Kong splatted Moore with a double underhook facebuster finisher to win.
After the match, Mel clobbered Moore with a leg drop. No haircut was given to the blond newcomer.
Alex Marvez interviewed Christopher Daniels. CD addressed the botch from the Pentagon match. He apologized for overreacting at Marvez last time he asked about it. Things happen. Wrestling is a contact sport. Mistakes get made. CD will not live in the past. He’s going to show he is still the Fallen Angel and still a valued member of SCU. CD is going to get the job done in the following trios bout.
Jack Evans, Angelico, & Kip Sabian vs SCU
Penelope Ford accompanied Kip Sabian ringside. One minor story of the match was Christopher Daniels working through the yips from his botch. He had a chance for a springboard maneuver, but he hesitated much too long and paid the price by getting beat up.

Top highlights were a swinging DDT by Ford jumping off the apron, a twisting neckbreaker by Sabian off the ropes, and a standing corkscrew moonsault by Jack Evans. The finish was high-octane. Frankie Kazarian got his knees up on a Phoenix splash from Evans. Evans kicked out of the pin. Angelico ate the Angel Wings from CD. Sabian attacked CD with a springboard DDT. Scorpio Sky clobbered Sabian on a TKO. Evans spin-kicked Sky. Sky reversed an Irish whip to send Evans into Kaz’s big boot. SCU cleaned up with SCU Later as Kaz pinned Evans to win.
This episode of Dark had solid action, even though I don’t consider it mandatory viewing. Awesome Kong brutalized another competitor. SCU, Hybrid 2, Kip Sabian, and Penelope Ford worked their magic for some cool maneuvers. My favorite moments of the show were Kong’s torture rack and Ford’s DDT.

Christopher Daniels had the spotlight with an interview about his botch. He talked a big game but couldn’t pull the trigger in the ring. At least, he did have a role in helping to win the match. While Daniels is not over the yips yet for his past botch, he isn’t letting it cloud his focus on hitting the pay window. Unfortunately for Daniels, future hesitations will probably spell doom in singles action.
