Andy Murray was one of the few to challenge the dominance of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, in an era that has profoundly rewritten the history of tennis. The Scot, who played his last professional career event at the Paris Olympics, received a standing ovation from the crowd at the Suzanne Lenglen, who came to see his last tournament as a professional.

The Big 3, his historic rivals, dedicated a fantastic tribute to him. Federer, Djokovic Rafael Nadal spent words of great esteem towards him, through three different and moving videos.

Federer said: "Hi Andy. Congratulations on your incredible career. Wimbledon and US Open champion, Davis Cup, Olympic champion. You have achieved many other things by winning many Masters 1000s and becoming number one. Sir Andy Murray. One of the greatest careers for a great person. Your hip and body did not allow you to give what you wanted in the end, but you have been an inspiration to me and many other tennis players. I respect you a lot. I loved playing against you, even though I suffered some tough losses. Congratulations on everything you have achieved. Enjoy this moment and I am sure we will meet along the way."

Nadal dedicated: "Hello, Andy. I know this is your last day as a professional on Tour. Having to make this video makes me sad, because you are one of the players that everyone loved the most in the locker room for your character, your charisma and the way you behaved personally with me and the rest of the tennis players. It was great to be rivals and good colleagues. We shared many incredible moments together and I want to congratulate you for everything you have done. You have achieved the dream of becoming one of the best. I wish you the best for your future with your family. Have fun. I hope we stay in touch. I really wish you the best, my friend."

Djokovic praised Andy by saying: "We all hoped this moment would never come, but here we are. I want to congratulate you on your amazing career. You won Grand Slam tournaments, you were number one in the world, you won two gold medals at the Olympic Games and the Davis Cup. What you have achieved is incredible. We have known each other for a long time, we were eleven years old when we first met on the court. We played great matches against each other, a great rivalry.

We played each other in the finals of every Grand Slam tournament. You brought the Wimbledon title back to the UK after 77 years, unfortunately against me in the final. It was still a historic moment that I shared with you, I am proud to have been part of it. You must be proud of the incredible resilience and strength that you have had, and for the inspiration that you have been to all of us. After all the things you have had to overcome, you have shown everyone that you can always keep going and never give up. I wish you and your family all the best. Hello, my friend."

In the last tournament of his career, played in doubles with Daniel Evans at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Andy Murray explained to everyone the meaning of the expression never give up. This was the great message that the Scot wanted to convey to the new generations, because along his hard path he never thought for a second of giving up despite the numerous serious injuries suffered over time. Murray reached the quarterfinals saving five consecutive match points against the Japanese Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniel and two in the challenge with Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen.
