Coco Gauff comments on the defeat against Iga Swiatek in Beijing

Gauff was eliminated in the semi-final of Beijing by Iga Swiatek and, in the press conference, she explained: "I started to feel pain during the match with Maria Sakkari in the quarter-finals. But I didn't feel the same pain as today. I warned in the first set, but I don't like calling the physiotherapist.

My coach advised me to do it and that helped me. It was a new experience for me, I'm not used to playing with pain. It's not a terrible injury, with a little rest things will settle down."

The 19 year old from Atlanta can obviously be satisfied with her latest performances and, above all, with the incredible American summer. In fact, Gauff won the Washington tournament, the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati and her first Slam at the US Open.

Precisely thinking about Swiatek's season, criticized several times this year despite her excellent results, Gauff wanted to send an important message and defend the former number one on the WTA Tour.

She said: "I saw several comments from people. Some think it's not a good season for her. But she won a Slam at Roland Garros and was often number one. I would dream of a season like the one Swiatek had this year."
