Wolfgang Thiem says it will be demanding to play two Grand Slams in a short time but his son Dominic Thiem isn't planning on missing any Major event.

On March 17, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) announced a new date for the French Open as the plan now is to hold the lone clay Grand Slam event from September 20 - October 4.

The French Open is now scheduled to start just a week after the finish of US Open as the Major event at Flushing Meadows is due to take place from August 31 - September 13.

Making a switch from hard to clay in such a short time will pose a big challenge to every player as some have argued that it will be impossible for players to enter the French Open prepared.

But in an interview with the Austrian Olympic Committee, Wolfgang Thiem confirmed that world No. 3 Dominic Thiem will play both Grand Slams if they proceed as scheduled.

Thiem, ranked at No. 3 in the world, achieved his best US Open result in 2018, when he made the quarterfinal before being edged out by eventual champion Rafael in a five-set thriller.

Last year, the Austrian had his most disappointing US Open campaign as he excited the event in the first round after picking up a shock defeat against Thomas Fabbiano.

Meanwhile, Thiemm's most successful Grand Slam has been the French Open, where he has made at least the final in each of his last two appearances.

Unfortunately for the Austrian, he couldn't find a way to beat Nadal in either of the French Open finals played.
