French Davis Cup Team Captain Sebastien Grosjean doubts the season will resume in June.
On March 12, the ATP initially suspended the Tour for six weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak.
It was a lengthy suspension but even then the players weren't too optimistic that the season would resume on April 27.
Then last week, the ATP extended the Tour suspension through to June 07.
"We don't know when will the season resume," Grosjean told beIN SPORTS, as revealed on We Love Tennis France. "For now, you have to stay healthy and at home. You have to try to stay in shape, do a little physical program if you have the space and keep your spirits up. I doubt that tennis will resume in June. "
Before the ATP extended the Tour suspension through to June 07, the FFT decided to reschedule the French Open.
As it was becoming more obvious that the season wouldn't resume on April 27, the FFT reacted quickly.
Grosjean, a former world No. 4, thinks the priority must be given to the Grand Slam and Masters events once the season resumes.
The Frenchman also suggested that extending the season through December should definitely be considered.
"Priority must be given to the Grand Slams and the Masters 1000. So yes, we can consider a longer season with an end in December," Grosjean said.
The Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome all get called off due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The French Open was rescheduled, while the AELTC remain hopeful that Wimbledon will take place as initially scheduled.
