Former Australian tennis player Sam Groth says the FFT wanted to be "proactive" but instead they just went "rogue" with their decision to move the French Open to September.
On Tuesday, the FFT announced this year's French Open would be taking place from September 20 - October 04.
Shortly after the announcement was made, the FFT started receiving criticism for their decision.
The Laver Cup -- which is co-owned by Roger Federer -- features some of the best players in the world and they intend to proceed with their event as scheduled from September 25-27.
"They were trying to be proactive but they have just gone rogue," Groth told Channel 9."Basically, no consultation with the players, with the tours men's or women's, with the other Grand Slams. They had just gone and threw themselves in the middle of September, a week after the US Open, clashing with the handful of ATP events, as well as the Laver Cup -- which to be honest most of the top guys are actually contracted to play.
"So it is going to become probably illegal you would think if the players are back on court by the time that time of the season comes around because it is going to be a big conflict -- how does Rafael Nadal go in and try to win his 13th French Open when he is contracted to play the Laver Cup?"
The AELTC confirmed they intend to hold Wimbledon as scheduled but they keep monitoring the situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak.
