In an interview to La Stampa the Turin Mayor Chiara Appendino spoke about the Italian city hosting the ATP Finals from 2021 to 2025. Appendino was at the ATP Finals in London last week meeting the Italian Tennis Federation and the ATP officials. "We are all aware that moving an event that was held in a city like London for many years is not something granted. 2021, the first year, will be the toughest one. But I think Turin can do well or even better than London. Tennis is a very popular sport and the city can benefit from it. They last for five years so it's not a one-time thing. They can leave a major legacy. I remember in the beginning we had one out of 100 chances to move it to Turin. Then we got on the short list (five final cities) and it turned much more different."

Asked about two things she would like to see in Turin, Appendino replied: "Innovation, because Turin is a city that is a lot about innotivation and technology. And then sustainability. We want to look at the future through the sports. The Italian tennis is doing great thank to Fabio Fognini, Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner and there is also an Italian ATP Chairman, Andrea Gaudenzi."

Asked which players she would like to welcome to Turin, Appendino replied: "Matteo Berrettini and then of course Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic."

Turin prevailed over London itself, Manchester, Tokyo and Singapore. They will keep working hard in order to hold the best possible tournament.
