Roger Federer set to play exhibition match in Colombia in 2020

Roger Federer's South American tour was a success in all countries the Swiss played except Colombia as the exhibition match with Alexander Zverev was cancelled due to a curfew. El Tiempo, the biggest newspaper in Colombia, reported that fans will not be refurbished for their tickets. "We are very sad and in a very difficult economic situation," the organizers said. "The expenses were the same, but many earnings disappeared. Some sponsors supported us, but not all of them."

However as reported by Tages Anzeiger, Federer's longtime agent Tony Godsick said: "Roger (will) compensate fans in Bogota. Our goal is to organize the match next year. If it's not possible, Roger will give his fee back and he will make sure his fans get the money back for their tickets. The fans were unbelievably noisy when he played there (in 2012). This nice story doesn't have to finish this way."

The goal is to announce a new date in mid-December and hold the exhibition match in late March 2020 between Indian Wells and Miami tournaments or after the Miami Open. Federer will also play the Australian Open to start the 2020 season. Federer lost in the fourth round of the 2019 Australian Open after winning the title two years in a row in 2017-18. The Swiss will now begin his off-season. Earlier, Federer decided to not play the ATP Cup because of familial commitments. Federer had been one of the initial players to commit to the inaugural event and was to play in Sydney but towards the end of the season, he was forced to rethink his decision.
