Fish injured, replaced by Strong in NXT tag title match

The opening match of NXT tonight was a tag title match between champs Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish against Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic.

However that was changed early on.

After returning from commercial break, it was Roderick Strong in the match instead of Fish. The announce team, led by Tom Phillips, informed us that Fish got hurt and was replaced by Roddy Strong. It remained a title match.

They pointed to this Gorilla Press spot as the moment, with Bobby landing on his right knee.

Bobby Fish missed time to a left ACL injury (so the other knee) last year.

Luckily for the ERA, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly teamed up during that time so they have chemistry. Very good chemistry.

In fact, they retained their titles because Dominik Dijakovic was memorized by Keith Lee body checking Adam Cole into the crowd.

Right now, we don’t know the story with the injury. Was it a legit injury that happened at that time and we’re just waiting to see if it was very serious? Was it a planned way to get him out of the match because he’s nursing some wounds from the last weekend? We’ll have to wait and see on that.
