Eugene Lapierre, Montreal Tournament Director, sometimes talks with Roger Federer's agent Tony Godsick. In a chat to Tennis World USA, Lapierre revealed a funny thing about Federer. "It's interesting that he loves the game so much. He is very interested in the young players and he can even call them before the match. He inspires everybody. I know he has an interest in Felix Auger-Aliassime saying that he could be a very good player. The same with Cori Gauff. He likes to train with the youngsters of the competition. He has probably the biggest knowledge, he knows everything about all the players. Could he become a coach? I think he would like to be in the business of tennis, he is organizing the Laver Cup. I do not know if that's the right move because of one player but the more tickets get sold, the bigger prices are!"

Federer has won "just" two Rogers Cup, both in Toronto in 2004 and 2006, and lost four finals overall, two in Montreal, two in Toronto (2007, 2010, 2014, 2017).
