Through his social media channels, Novak Djokovic confirmed that Goran Ivanisevic is his new additional coach. The Serbian player wrote: "I am grateful to have Goran Ivanisevic on my side of the net. We have agreed to collaborate at Wimbledon and hopefully many more in the future. I am thankful to Marian (Vajda, longtime coach) for supporting the idea to invite Goran and strengthen our team ahead of this important tournament. I have grown up watching and supporting Goran. Niki Pilic allowed me to be Goran’s ball boy during his preparation in Niki’s academy for the famous Wimbledon trophy in 2001 - that was a dream come true for a young tennis player who looked up to Goran. Now we get to join forces in the quest here in London", wrote Djokovic on Ivanisevic, who previously worked as a Milos Raonic' coach.
Meanwhile, another coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, praised Cori Gauff who trains in his Academy near Nice, France: "When I test the players [who want to join the academy], of course, I want to see them in extreme situations because that’s when you know really who is who. Of course, we put them in practice matches, in training, to go through tough situations on the court but also we had these discussions one on one with her and when I do that I push them to see what’s behind. She was impressive. I remember when she was 10, she was looking at me in the eyes and said, “I want to be No. 1 in the world”. You could feel that she was really believing it. I remember that was really strong, it was a strong moment."
