In an interview to Sdna, the 2003 Wimbledon finalist Mark Philippoussis commented on his Greek origins and Stefanos Tsitsipas' development. Philippoussis said: "I grew up speaking Greek with my family at home, I went to the Greek school, but only for a year. Sometimes I speak with the Stefanos's father during the Grand Slams. Stefanos definitely has room for improvements. He has one of the best games on Tour. He needs to improve his serve a lot. His groundstrokes are great, he could work on his directions. But he has a great all-around game, he moves unbelievably well, he fights on every single point. It's nice to see. It's a big advantage for Greece having someone like him who represents it. It's very important."
Philippoussis also spoke about Maria Sakkari's journey: "I am definitely watching Maria. She is a great girl. And lately she is going great, she has a better ranking. I hope she achieves great things on grass. I am definitely interested in Greek tennis. It's nice to see them do well. They make me proud. I live in Australia but I come from Greece. My first language is Greek."
"I think happy more than anything. I feel just really happy. Yeah, happy, I think, is the main word, main feeling. I feel really pleased with just how I dealt with the conditions out there and just how I gave myself space to play. I thought I played the game, which I was just really pleased with. Just happy. I definitely thought I played well behind my serve more than anything, and kept a good variety in there, which I think made it also difficult for Sloane to find her rhythm in those games. But, yeah, I think overall I just played a good match."
