Roger Federer has nothing to lose against Rafael Nadal, says former player

In an interview to Le Matin the former Swiss player Yves Allegro commented on the Roger Federer's four-set win over Stan Wawrinka in the French Open. Allegro said: "I think everything was played over the half hour that started with Roger's break on the third set (from 4-4). It was the first time that Stan was leading. Roger was not very good and his serve did not hurt that much. But Stan did not play well and from then Roger started to control things."

How did the rain delay influence? "Not that much. Because for me a break helps Federer. Warming up again is tougher for Stan, while Roger is the most explosive athlete between the two. So he needs less time to perform at his highest speed. He cameback on court hitting stronger."

On the upcoming semifinal between Federer and Nadal, Allegro concluded: "A Roger-Rafa in the French Open is so good. It's good for the tournament and tennis in general. Then, Rafa largely stays favorite... But Roger has nothing to lose and he has not been losing to Rafa for five years. Almost an eternity. And five consecutive wins are important. Can it change the match? One thing is sure, beating Rafa in the French Open would be big."

Wawrinak admitted that he did not take a rest when he had a knee surgery: "Trust me, you don't rest when you are injured. You don't go on holiday by the beach and enjoy some Caipina. You don't do that", the 34-year-old said.
