In an interview to Onda Cero the former world No. 2 Alex Corretja commented on the upcoming French Open semifinal between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. "Without any doubt, we can say that the rivalry between Federer and Nadal was the best one in tennis history. Roger headed into the second week perfectly, so that he could face the toughest rivals in an ideal way and being fresh. He did not struggle until the quarter-finals. Instead, Rafa onlt struggled against David Goffin but he played very well. I do not know if that's the best Nadal we ever saw in the French Open because he won 11 times but he beating him on clay at the best of five sets is one of the ultimate challenges. He only lost two match in the event, which is unbelievable", said Corretja.

On Federer, the Spaniard added: "He is using the serve and volley, he is turning more aggressive on the forehand side. The years before he struggled to come to the net. In the past years, Nadal was much above his opponents, but he is playing at his best and so he is the favorite."

In an interview to Dagbladet Federer commented on the Casper Ruud's potential. The Swiss faced Ruud in the French Open third round winning in straight sets, 6-3 6-1 7-6(6). "At the moment he is a better player on grass. He has time to prepare his forehand, uses a lot of top spin. The key for him is to change his game and play fast points, like Rafael Nadal. People does not speak about it enough, but he is so good with one-two shots. It's something Casper needs to work on", said Federer.
