On Eurosport, the former world No. 1 Mats Wilander commented on Rafael Nadal's four-set win over David Goffin in the French Open. Wilander said: "Goffin played unbelievable tennis in the third set, the kind of tennis you have to play against Nadal on clay. You have to risk a lot, go for low percentage shots and hope that they work. The timing is important. That's how Robin Soderling and Novak Djokovic played against Nadal respectively in 2009 and 2015 to beat him. Two players with excellent backhands that are not afraid to go against Nadal's forehand. Nadal was very solid in the first two sets, then he played a bit passive in that third set when Goffin came through and in the fourth set coming back. Can Nadal win the tournament playing like this? He may slightly be the favourite with Novak slightly behind him. Can Novak play for four or five hours against Nadal like he did Goffin today in the third set? Nadal is playing better and better but that third set is a little bit of a worry for him", said the Swede.

On Petra Martic's win over Karolina Pliskova, Wilander concluded: "Unbelievable management of all court from Petra Martic. She has been injured so much and it's great to see her back at her best. She can do anything, she has a great looking game but she has not a lot of power. Anastasija Sevastova is another one, and I like to see such great game styles."
