Naomi Osaka issued an emotional post two days after her US Open exit as the four-time Grand Slam champion revealed that she had written a lengthy message expressing her disappointment before simply realizing that she returned as a mother to New York and that it was enough to be proud of.

On Thursday, the Japanese tennis star exited the final Major of the year after 2023 French Open runner-up Karolina Muchova handed her a 6-3 7-6 (5) defeat. Following the defeat, the 26-year-old confessed to reporters that she feels "my heart dies every time I lose."

Before launching her run in New York, the former world No. 1 spoke about how excited she was about her return and wanting to do in her first US Open since giving birth to her daughter Shai last summer.

And Osaka started off with a statement win after ousting No. 10 seed Jelena Ostapenko 6-3 6-2 in a performance that resembled the ones that landed her two titles at Flushing Meadows in the past. But then, the two-time US Open champion failed to back up her big victory over the Latvian after not playing that well versus Muchova and even missing out on three consecutive set points on her serve in the second set.

Osaka's note after a second-round showing in her US Open return

"Honestly I had typed out a whole caption about how I’m disappointed with myself etc but I’ve been sitting here playing with my daughter and I realized that I couldn’t be more proud of myself. I gave birth to such an amazing human and I played the US Open? A win is a win. Sure it didn’t work out this time but I have faith it will eventually. Thank you NY (heart emoji) see you next time," the four-time Major winner wrote on Instagram.

Overall, the North American hard-court swing wasn't the best for Osaka and the 26-year-old Japanese will now probably take a couple of days to mentally recover and analyze some things before returning to action.
