Due to adverse weather conditions, both current and forecasted, the third round of the 2024 Chevron Championship at The Woodlands, Texas, was suspended with a significant portion of players still needing to finish, right in the midst of the back nine.
Chevron Championship, resultsAt the time of the suspension, Thai golfer Atthaya Thitikul led the pack at -11 through 12 holes. She held a one-stroke lead over a surging Brooke Henderson from Canada, who was at -10 through 17 holes, tied with world number one Nelly Korda of the USA, also at -10 through 11 holes, and South Korean Jin Hee Im, who was at -9.
The fifth-place tie consisted of American Lauren Coughlin and South Korean Hae Ran Ryu, both at -8, with Coughlin through 13 holes and Ryu through 12. Chinese golfer Weiwei Zhang claimed seventh place at -7 through 12 holes, while eighth place belonged to Swedish golfer Maja Stark at -6, also through 12 holes.
A sizable group was tied for ninth place, although only the first two mentioned had completed their rounds. This group included South Korean Jiyai Shin, German Esther Henseleit, Japanese players Nasa Hataoka and Minami Katsu, Americans Marina Alex, Auston Kim, and Yealimi Noh, Spanish golfer Carlota Ciganda, New Zealander Lydia Ko, Swedish golfer Anna Nordqvist, and English golfer Jodi Ewart Shadoff, all at -5.
