Former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard now also turned professional pickleball player received special treatment at the Challengers premiere that took place at the Westwood Village Theater on April 16 in Los Angeles, California. The Canadian met none other than Zendaya, who has been lately making headlines with the spicy tennis movie Challengers set to be released in theaters on April 26.

Bouchard appeared in a sparkly black dress while Zendaya shone in a yellow one. "Tennis girlies," the Canadian captioned a couple of photos featuring the talented actress that she posted on Instagram.

As we previously reported, the story of the movie "follows three players who knew each other when they were teenagers as they compete in a tennis tournament to be the world-famous grand slam winner, and reignite old rivalries on and off the court. Tashi, a tennis player-turned-coach who has taken her husband, Art, and transformed him from a mediocre player into a world-famous Grand Slam champion. To jolt him out of his recent losing streak, she makes him play a "Challenger" event -- close to the lowest level of tournament on the pro tour -- where he finds himself standing across the net from the once-promising, now burnt-out Patrick: his former best friend and Tashi's former boyfriend."

Zendaya started campaigning for her movie many months ago. If you remember, the famous actress released a personal video diary from the set of the movie. Also, when only the trailer was live, the movie received positive reactions from influential tennis players like Coco Gauff and Serena Williams. "Can't wait," Gauff wrote on 2 January. "So excited," Gauff reacted to the new trailer. Besides Gauff, Serena also reacted when the movie was announced. "So excited for this," Williams commented.

Is a movie about Bouchard still in the books

Did you know that about two years ago Bouchard talked about who would play her in a movie about her famous Superbowl date?

"In a nutshell, it was the Superbowl tweet. I tweeted that Atlanta would win.

Then, this guy said that Patriots would win. Tom Brady works his magic. Patriots win. Possibly the best Superbowl comeback of all time. Turns out he is this lovely young boy who went to University of Missouri. Brought him to a basketball game. This producer came to us with like a script and they were like 'we want to turn this into a movie'," said Bouchard. "To come back to your original question, I would go with Margot Robbie or Black Lively," Bouchard added.

No matter how close the movie went to being made, Bouchard's fall in rankings surely hasn't helped. There aren't many posts in her Instagram feed not containing complaints from her fans about her being interested in anything but tennis. We even wrote about how she became a queen on social media.

At the moment, the future for the Canadian looks brighter in the world of pickleball.

After, Eugenie joined the Professional Pickleball Tour this year.

“Look, pickleball is crazy. It’s wild for me to just play a completely different sport,” Bouchard said after her pickleball debut.

“I’ve played tennis for 25 years now, and so my brain is like wired for tennis. So I like either completely whiff the ball or I just hit the tip of the paddle and miss my shot," Bouchard added. “I’m very excited to just challenge myself with this new pickle chapter and then still remain in the tennis world that I love," Bouchard said.
