The Vanderbilt University women's tennis team defeated the Memphis Tigers 4-0 for their first home win of the season.
Coach Aleke Tsoubanos analyzed: "Fantastic team match. I thought we competed really well on every pitch. We started a little slow, but we got our energy back and were a little more aggressive towards the second half of the point. doubles. It went in our direction and it was huge to have that momentum in the singles. We got some leads early on some courts and held onto them to get the first sets.
It was great momentum for CB to come back and win his set 7- 5, and Bridget played a really clean match on 3, as well as having Anessa and Holly get through those second sets. It was a great team win, and this was a good team. They've had great wins before in this season and they're going to have a great spring. Now we're going to bounce back and focus our attention on Northwestern next Sunday."
On court 3, Anessa Lee/Célia-Belle Mohr put the Dores in a good position with a 6-3 win over Camila Soares/Monique Woog. Bridget Stammel and Valeria Ray took the early lead for the Dores with a 6-4 win against their Tiger opponents.
Stammel led the team, taking the first singles point over her opponent with a series win. Holly Staff quickly defeated Memphis' Alice Amendola on Court 5, adding another straight-set win. Lee closed out the match against the Tigers, taking Court 2 in straight sets to give Vanderbilt a win.
