Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have met again and believe it or not it happened during a flight to the United States.
After basically missing the entire 2023 season, Nadal kicked off his 2024 comeback at the Brisbane International - where he suffered a muscle tear and didn't compete at the Australian Open. On the other side, Djokovic started his season at the United Cup before going to the Australian Open.
Due to the circumstances, Djokovic and Nadal didn't meet in any tournaments this year. But on Friday, they both had a scheduled flight to the United States and funnily shared the same flight.
After seeing Nadal on the same plane, Djokovic took a selfie and posted it on Instagram.
"Great company on the way to USA," Djokovic captioned his Instagram post.

Djokovic, a five-time Indian Wells champion, hasn't played in the desert since 2019. After Indian Wells was canceled in 2020, Djokovic skipped the tournament edition in 2021. Then, Djokovic missed the 2022 and 2023 Indian Wells editions because he wasn't allowed to enter the United States as an unvaccinated foreigner.
But in mid-2023, the United States authorities changed their vaccine policy and Djokovic is now allowed to enter the United States as an unvaccinated foreigner.
"A welcome return to #TennisParadise. @DjokerNole will compete in Indian Wells for the first time since 2019!" Indian Wells announced in early February.

On the other side, Nadal is also set to make his Indian Wells return this year after missing the tournament last year due to a hip injury.
In the past, Nadal had big success in Indian Wells, making five finals and winning three titles. For Nadal, this will be his second tournament of the 2024 season and also his second tournament since his hip surgery.

Without any doubt, Djokovic and Nadal's Indian Wells returns will make this year's tournament more attractive and there will be lots of attention on the two tennis greats.
