Nick Kyrgios won't be returning to the court anytime soon as the Australian tennis star is set to miss the Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami as he is hoping to be ready to play again at the start of the grass season in June.

In December, Kyrgios announced he would not be ready to participate at the Australian Open due to his ongoing wrist injury. However, Kyrgios is still present at Melbourne Park this year, having landed gigs with ESPN and Eurosport.

On Monday, Kyrgios was sitting in the ESPN commentary box alongside John McEnroe for the Stefanos Tsitsipas and Zizou Bergs match. During his commentary, Kyrgios revealed he would not be ready to play in March and added he hopes that he can return during the grass season and play some tournaments leading up to Wimbledon.

After a career-best season in 2022, Kyrgios sustained a very unfortunate knee injury in the offseason. Initially, Kyrgios was hoping he would be able to resolve the injury and compete at the 2023 Australian Open. Unfortunately, the injury was worse than initially thought and the Australian tennis star pulled out of the 2023 Australian Open and went under the knife.

In June, Kyrgios kicked off his 2023 season on the grass courts of Stuttgart. In his first match back, Kyrgios suffered a defeat to Yibing Wu. During the match, Kyrgios was indicating to his team that he was in pain and discomfort.

In the end, Kyrgios ended up withdrawing from all of his scheduled tournaments for the grass season and also missing the entire season.

Over the last six months, Kyrgios has indicated several times that he returned too early from his knee surgery and that pushing his body while it needed more time caused his wrist injury. Now, Kyrgios seems to be taking a very cautious approach and will return only when he feels he is physically 100 percent ready to do so.
