Naomi Osaka admits pregnancy was "kind of a rough journey" and revealed that welcoming a child was "an instant life-changing" moment. After announcing in January that she was pregnant with her first child, Osaka announced the birth of her first child in July. When Osaka learned about her pregnancy, the four-time Grand Slam champion thought of it as a beautiful journey. “I don't think people know how hard pregnancy is; no one really talks about it as much. Going into it, you kind of think, 'Oh, it's this beautiful journey,' but it's kind of rough," Osaka told InStyle. Osaka, a former world No 1, admitted she felt something changed in her life the moment she welcomed baby girl Shai. "There was a huge adjustment period. It was life-changing in a day. From the moment that you come back home from the hospital, everything's different," Osaka said.
Osaka on childbirth: The worst pain of my lifeOsaka also said that during childbirth she felt "the worst pain of my life." Also, Osaka revealed what she was thinking during those moments. "I know that if I get through this, then everything else will feel very easy.” Since 2019, Osaka has been dating rapper Cordae. For both Osaka and Cordae, Shai is their first child. When asked about parenting with Cordae, Osaka suggested there are times when they disagree over certain things but noted that they always talk it out and everything works out well. "I don't know if it's because he's just an easygoing guy, but I think we just respect each other's opinions. And if we disagree on something, we talk it out. At the end of the day, we both want what's best for Shai," Osaka said. Meanwhile, Osaka is set for her tennis return in January. Osaka's comeback will start at the Brisbane International, which takes place between December 31st - January 07.
