Jannik Sinner suggests he absolutely enjoys his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz because they "push each other to the limit" and those matches give him a clear picture of what he needs to further address in his game. Sinner, 22, and 20-year-old Alcaraz have created one of the most exciting rivalries among the younger generation. Sinner and Alcaraz may be big rivals but the Italian highlights that's only on the court as they are actually "good friends" off the court. “Every time when I play against him, I feel like we both try and push ourselves to the limit. Both of us obviously hate losing, especially against each other. We have a very good relationship off court. I feel like we are good friends, but still on court you feel a little bit nervous because you want to win. You hate losing. We both are very young, and we also feel like when we play, many people are watching. It’s a mix of everything and it’s obviously a huge pleasure to share the court with him. In this way, I always try to look forward to these matches. I feel when I play against the best players in the world I can really see where to improve, and that is basically my main goal," Sinner said, via the ATP website.

Whenever Sinner and Alcaraz clash against each other, it's usually fireworks and high-quality tennis. Earlier this week, Sinner and Alcaraz met for the seventh time on the main level. En route to winning Beijing, Sinner defeated top-seeded Alcaraz 7-6 (4) 6-1 in the semifinal. Alcaraz, a two-time Grand Slam champion, has been pretty dominant against the majority of top players over the last year and a half. But against Sinner, Alcaraz never has it easy and actually has a losing record against the Italian. Following his win over Alcaraz in Beijing, Sinner improved to 4-3 against Alcaraz. Now, Sinner and Alcaraz are set to compete at the Shanghai Masters. Sinner and Alcaraz weren't drawn in the same part of the draw and they could only meet in the Shanghai final.
