French tennis (and not only) in shock: former player Angelique Cauchy accused her former youth coach Andres Gueddes of raping her three times a day at the time of the events. Gueddes began coaching Cauchy at Sarcelles Tennis Club in 1999, when he was just 12 years old.
The abuse began only a few months later, and was justified by the man as normal.
He would have said, as witnessed by Cauchy: "it sometimes happens that the relationships between teacher and student are like this because we spend a lot of time together."
Over the next two years, Angelique claims, the relationship with the coach steadily worsened and the girl was raped over 400 times.
What happenedTwo years ago, precisely in 2021, Gueddes was found guilty of assaulting four teenage girls in France and was sentenced to 18 years.
Cauchy said, as reported by MARCA and the Guardian: "I thought many times about committing suicide. He kidnapped me three times a day. The first night he asked me to go to his room and I didn't do it, then he came into mine. It was worse. I was in prison, I couldn't get out when I wanted to. I lived between 13 and 18 years old thinking I had AIDS.
The following evenings, and I know this sounds absurd, I went to him on my own. One day he came to me and he said 'I have AIDS, I'm sure, and I passed it to you. In the late 90s it was a really scary thing and I was paralyzed with fear. I lived from the age of 13 to 18 thinking I had AIDS. But he lied to me, just to destroy me."
When a member of the tennis club complained about Geddes' predatory and abusive behavior, the club president allegedly responded: "Yes, but he brings us the titles."
