Luke Donald confirms that he will rest some of the players!

The captain of Team Europe's Ryder Cup team, Luke Donald, has said that some of the European superstars may be rested during the Ryder Cup match against Zach Johnson's Team USA scheduled for September 29th at Marco Simone Golf Club. Namely, the conditions at Marco Simone will be very demanding, so probably a few will have to rest in order to give their maximum.

“It is something we've talked about and discussed with a few players who you'd think would play five and we’ve had conversations with them about what they might be expecting for the week.”- he said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com!

Luke Donald is aware that the majority is ready to give everything for the team, and that they want to play all 5 matches. However, the captain of the team emphasizes that this will probably not be possible given the conditions.

“Adrenaline is a big thing in the Ryder Cup so if you asked them to play five they would want to play five. But you've got to think about Sunday and the singles because that is 12 points out of the 28. You want some freshness, it is going to be a tiring golf course, could be quite warm.”

The trip to Marco Simone was a great opportunity to introduce them to the course and understand what awaits them. Most now know how challenging it is to play there. However, the quality of the European boys will certainly come to the fore in Rome! The boys are excited and ready to work hard. They are determined to make the most of this experience

“Those are things that we've constantly thought about over the past few months and we'll have to decide and make some of those decisions based on play on Friday and Saturday. It is a possibility that some guys who are used to playing five might not play five. They understand the rationale behind it.”
