Gael Monfils has told Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach out to his wife Elina Svitolina in case they need advice on their "Tsitsidosa" Instagram account. In early June, Badosa and Tsitsipas went public with their relationship and that's how Tsitsidosa happened - a joint Instagram account of the new tennis couple. A few years ago when Monfils and Svitolina started dating, they created "GEMS Life." Their account is still active and the only difference is that now they are married.
"You know, it’s funny because someone told me about that. GEMS Life, the community manager was 100 percent Elina Svitolina. So they need to ask her for anything. But it’s always great to see a couple in tennis. Yeah, and it’s nice to see that it can happen. I always wish all the couples the best. It’s something tough to describe because it’s very personal. But I hope every couple in tennis can enjoy themselves and be happy together," Monfils told Racquet Magazine.
Monfils hints he'll soon retire, Svitolina will continue to playIn October, Monfils and Svitolina welcomed their first child. This past week in Washington, both Monfils and Svitolina competed at the tournament. After his opening win over Bjorn Fratangelo, 36-year-old Monfils hinted he could be soon ending his pro tennis career. Also, Monfils hinted that 28-year-old Svitolina will still be around.
“I feel Elina will play much longer than me. It might be one of my last tournaments in the States. Maybe next year. We don’t know. But soon. But I may come back to support Elina with the baby. So you’ll see me around," Monfils said in Washington.
During this year's Wimbledon, Svitolina went to The Championships while Monfils stayed at home to take care of their daughter Skai. If Monfils retires, that could be happening regularly as that way Svitolina would be able to compete in tournaments without any problems.
