Carlos Alcaraz wowed the crowd at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati with a crazy lob, in the 2nd round match he won against Jordan Thompson. It has almost become a habit for the number one in the world to score a shot that goes straight to the points of the tournament every week.

Indeed, even in his first appearance at the Master 1000 in Cincinnati, in a rather difficult match against the Australian Jordan Thompson, the Spaniard performed a perfect lob, which inflamed the crowd in the stands.

On an excellent outside serve by the Australian, on the result 5-5 40-40, Alcaraz first saved three sure winners from Thompson by hedging from one side to the other, to then transform the point from defensive to offensive, attracting the opponent under the net and mocking him with a soft lob, played with an almost negligible hand sensitivity.

In the same game, the Spaniard broke Thompson and closed the first set with a score of 7-5.

However, the 29-year-old Sydney native reacted in the second set, moving ahead by a break, then suffering a break in the ninth game but immediately recovering it with the counterbreak of the final 6-4, before giving up 6-3 in the third set after 2 hours and 48 of the game.

Alcaraz, who seemed rather imprecise and nervous in recent weeks, still managed to qualify for the round of 16, where he will meet the winner between the Frenchman Humbert and his Canadian nightmare Tommy Paul, who was able to beat him last week in Toronto, repeating thus the success of the past year.

Below you can watch the video of the amazing shot performed by Alcaraz and shared on Twitter by Tennis TV:

The Spanish tennis player, despite some difficulties encountered during the match, appears satisfied with his level, and he said in the press conference: "It wasn't an easy match, but in the end I found my best level. We waited all day to play this game and when you enter the field you have to start with the rain, so it was not easy. But you have to find a way to win these matches in this kind of situation."
