Like the US Open men whose endowment rose this year to 20 million dollars, that of the US Women's Open evolves from 10 to 11 million. The winner of the 78th edition this week at Pebble Beach will leave with a check for 2 million.

US Women's Open '23, situation

The United States Golf Association (USGA) is generous. After having applied a substantial increase to the last US Open won by the American Wyndham Clark, increasing the total prize pool from 17.5 to 20 million dollars, it has thus decided to offer a nice bonus to these ladies who compete in starting this Thursday at Pebble Beach.

The prize-money thus climbs to 11 million dollars, against 10 million in 2022. It was still only 5.5 million in 2021! Which means that the winner of the 78th edition of the US Women's Open will walk away with a check for 2 million. For comparison, Clark was awarded a whopping $3.6 million (€3.29 million) at the Los Angeles Country Club.

“All players who do not make the cut will pocket $8,000, added Mike Whan (photo), the boss of the USGA, formerly General Manager of the LPGA Tour. We would like to achieve parity between men and women one day. But is that day as close as we thought three years ago? Probably not ! »

The USGA announced in 2022, at the start of the US Women's Open 2022 won by Australian Minjee Lee, that the prize pool would reach 12 million dollars before 2026. We are not very far from it now.

The Rules of Golf are a set of standard rules and procedures by which the sport of golf should be played. They are jointly written and maintained by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body for golf worldwide, outside of the United States and Mexico, which are governed by the United States Golf Association. An expert commission made up of members of the R&A and USGA, oversees and refines the rules every four years. The latest revision has been in force since January 1, 2016. Changes to the rules of golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve understanding and those that in certain cases reduce penalties to ensure balance. The rule book, entitled "Rules of Golf", is published on a regular basis and also includes rules governing amateur status. In Italy it is up to Federgolf to supervise the competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R & A, checking that these rules are observed by the Clubs, Associations and their members and manages the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
