In recent years, the Italian tennis player Matteo Berrettini has been one of the main protagonists of the growth of the Italian tennis movement and his results have not gone unnoticed. No one can forget the 2021 Wimbledon final, the first Italian in history to achieve this story.
On that occasion Matteo caught the eye of the national news for having celebrated at the same time as the players of Italy, winners of that European Championship in England. Not even two years have passed, but for many it seems like an abyss given the difficulties of our national team and Matteo himself.
Berrettini has been a negative protagonist of our tennis in recent months, dealing with disappointing results and constant injuries, such as the one that will keep him away from the games in Rome. In addition to this, Berrettini is the protagonist of non-tennis events and continues to maintain his relationship with the Italian showgirl Melissa Satta.
The former tennis champion Chris Evert spoke to the microphones of Warner Bros Discovery Sports and dealt with many topics, including precisely that relating to Berrettini.
Chris Evert on Matteo BerrettiniChris tried to explain the tennis player's difficulties: "I think that after the 2021 Wimbledon final everything has changed for him, his life has changed profoundly. People have begun to approach him and especially women have begun to see him differently. Everyone wanted to take him and spend time with him. Berrettini is a very kind person and it's not easy to handle situations like that, his life has changed drastically."
Evert then continued by clarifying this reason for Berrettini's difficulty and explaining: "It often happens when you are so successful, and the Wimbledon final involves things like this. Then in Italy there is immediately great enthusiasm and this struck Matteo. Maybe they confused him, but I hope he can get back to his level soon. A tennis player's career can last up to 20 years, I'm confident."
Matteo Berrettini is currently out due to injury and many want to understand if the blue will take the court for Roland Garros.
