Aryna Sabalenka challenges Iga Swiatek in the final of the Mutua Madrid Open 2023. It is the final between the top two seeded players. A very fascinating challenge, between two tennis players who are doing very well. Iga is the favorite especially because she is on clay-courts, a surface to which her tennis is perfectly suited.

In her career, Iga has won 13 titles, of which 5 on clay-courts. Sabalenka has won 12 titles, including one on clay, in 2021. In the heads-to-heads, Iga is ahead 5-2. The Pole also won the last challenge, played a few weeks ago on the Stuttgart clay-courts.

The challenge will be determined by who will play better from the baseline, and who will be able to put pressure on their opponent.

Aryna Sabalenka, after winning a place in the final, explained: "It was my best game of the tournament so far, I knew she would fight for every point, but she didn't destroy me that she returned every ball. I kept playing, I still kept fighting for every point.

I'm super happy with the level I showed. I'm also super happy to be in another final, I really want to play that match. I think the change I already made before Australia, I became a little calmer on the pitch, I don't know, I'm probably getting old!

After the Australian Open I think everything ended up changing, I feel like a different person, I look at tennis differently. I'm so confident in myself right now that I truly think the Australian Open has completely changed me!

Iga Swiatek? I really want to take revenge, I think this would make me compete more passionately. I don't want to rush things but for sure I would try, I would try better than last time, I want to fight for this title. Honestly, I'd rather face Iga in the final than the quarterfinals.

It's great news that we are so consistent, so I hope we will see each other in another final. It's always big battles, it's always very hard for her, but I'm ready. It would be great to beat Iga on this surface. I don't have to rush things, I just have to wait for my opportunity and go for it."
