Taylor Fritz thinks the United States getting a male Grand Slam champion would draw more attention to tennis in his country.
The United States, one of the most successful tennis nations, hasn't had a male Grand Slam champion since Andy Roddick won the 2003 US Open.
Fritz, ranked at No 10 in the world, won the Indian Wells Masters last year and also achieved a career-high ranking of No 5 in the world earlier this year.
American male tennis isn't lacking talent as Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Sebastian Korda, Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton have all proved they can play at a high level.
"It takes better results from us. Someone has to win a Slam to raise more attention to the mainstream media in the United States," Fritz said, per Jannik Schneider.

Jessica Pegula and Cori Gauff, the two top-ranked American female tennis players, recently said American men are closing in on winning a Grand Slam.
"The woman's American side has been pretty deep for a really long time. I think probably in the past year or two the men finally caught up, with at least the amount of players in the Top 50 or Top 70. I think they're close. They obviously have a lot of really good players that are amazing athletes and can go deep and have gotten big wins in big tournaments, but since Andy Roddick, it has been a long, long time," Pegula said.
The United States has had lots of Grand Slam success in the women's game.
With the arrival of a couple of really talented American male tennis players, Gauff thinks the States could soon get a male Grand Slam champion.
"Not to be too high on the horse, but the women were holding it down for a while. Now, I will say it's pretty fairly even and I think the fans should enjoy that. Both sides from the US are really doing well. Hopefully, we'll be able to cross that step on the men's side where they can win a Grand Slam," Gauff said.
