A two-time defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas is through to the Monte Carlo quarter-final. Stefanos faced Nicolas Jarry in the third round and scored a 6-3, 6-4 victory in an hour and 33 minutes, his 12th in a row in the Principality. The Greek fired eight aces and dropped 17 points in ten service games. He saved both break points and kept the pressure on the other side. Jarry fought well, but his second serve let him down. The Chilean saved eight out of ten break points, losing serve once in each set and finishing his run in the last 16. Stefanos tamed his strokes nicely and hit 14 winners and unforced errors. Nicolas sprayed 30 mistakes from both wings equally and lost the ground in the shortest rallies up to four strokes. Jarry survived numerous deuces and two break points in the encounter's fourth game and locked the result at 2-2 with an ace.

Stefanos held at 15 in game five and scored a break in the next one after the rival's smash error. The Greek fired a service winner in the seventh game to confirm the lead and open a 5-2 gap, forcing the opponent to serve to stay in the set. Nicolas came back from 40-0 down in the eighth game and defended three set points. The Chilean held with an unreturned serve and fought well from 40-0 down in the ninth game to save six set points in total! Tsitsipas finally converted the seventh after Jarry's forehand error for 6-3 in 47 minutes. Nicolas made a shaky start to the second set and faced three break points in the first game.

Jarry lost ground after wasting those opportunities and suffered a break in game five to find himself in a challenging position. The defending champion grabbed another service game at 4-3 to remain in front and served for the victory at 5-4. Tsitsipas held at 30 to emerge at the top and advance into the last eight.
