Rising Swiss tennis star Dominic Stricker is currently on a three-week trial period with Roger Federer's ex-coach Peter Lundgren, according to Simon Graf of Tages-Anzeiger.

After the late coach Peter Carter tragically lost his life, Federer added coach Lundgren to his team.

In 2003, Lundgren guided Federer to his Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

Now, Lundgren is on a trial period with a talented Swiss tennis player.

Stricker, ranked at No 126 in the world, is certainly hoping the trial period goes well and Lundgren becomes his full-time coach.

Stricker is one of the most promising Swiss players

Last September, former 20-time Grand Slam champion Federer retired from pro tennis.

Another Swiss tennis icon - Stan Wawrinka - will be turning 38 later this month and he is not anymore one of the best in the game.

At the moment, 26-year-old Marc-Andrea Huesler - who is ranked at No 51 in the world - is the highest-ranked Swiss male tennis player.

However, Stricker is considered the most talented and promising Swiss tennis player.

In late January, Stricker won his fourth Challenger title after beating Giulio Zeppieri in the Rovereto Challenger final.

For Stricker, it was his first title since winning the Zug Challenger last July.

“Winning a title after a little bit of a struggle is great. I’m back fully motivated and happy. I think I’m on a good way now. [My goal for this year] was to not have one week winning a title and then losing three first rounds, just to be more consistent. For my ranking, Top 100 would be great, but the rankings change so quickly. A lot can happen in one week," Stricker said after winning the Rovereto Challenger.

This week, Stricker is competing at the Lugano Challenger.

Two years ago, Stricker captured his first Challenger title after beating Vitaliy Sachko in the Lugano final.

It remains to be seen if Stricker can win his second Lugano title this week.
