Novak Djokovic: Tennis season is too long, we can reorganize it in a better way

Novak Djokovic believes the tennis season is "too long" and noted everyone should collectively work on reorganizing the season in a better way.

Usually, tennis season starts on New Year's Eve and concludes in late November.

In recent years, numerous players have complained about tennis being the only sport where a season lasts 11 months.

"Season is long. For me it's too long, in my opinion. I have been saying that quite some time - these days when I'm a bit older than I was 10 years ago," Djokovic said, per Sportskeeda.

Djokovic: Have to reorganize some things, do a better promotion of tennis

Last year, Netflix cameras were following ATP and WTA players all around the world.

This past January, Netflix released the first season of Break Point on their platforms.

Djokovic, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, believes promoting tennis in a positive way is the only way.

"I just feel like we can reorganize our season in a better way. It's a little bit complicated. It's another subject. There's too many interests, governing bodies in tennis that decide on the calendar. Overall I think tennis is in a good place, but we must use the potential and the global reach that we have. We are not using that potential to its maximum at all. We are one of the most global sports watched around the world, over a billion people watching. I feel like we collectively have to do a better job in promoting the tennis. It's a very popular, historic sport. Marketing-wise and using, so to say, potential commercially is not as close to all the other global sports," Djokovic explained.

Meanwhile, Djokovic is a big reason why tennis is so popular.

Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer created stunning rivalries and many believe the Big Three deserve the most credit for tennis reaching new heights in the 21st century.
