The 2023 G4D Tour season has officially kicked off at the Australian All Abilities Championship @ the ISPS HANDA Australian Open, where Kipp Popert (71, 64, 69, -2) took his fifth win by seven strokes ahead of Canadian Kurtis Barkley (73, 69, 79, +5).
G4D Tour, resultsThe competition took place from 1 to 4 December at the Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne with 12 participants, including the Italian Tommaso Perrino and for the first time the Danish Mette Wegge Lynggaard.
'I like it here' - said Pobert - 'it's the first time I've played in Australia. Growing up in the southeast of England, I'm quite familiar with links and today I had to use some strokes typical of these courses. I applied a game strategy and followed it to the end. To be champion here is an absolute honor.
Tommaso Perrino finished in ninth place (80, 75, 83, +11). Spectacular the eagle on the 18th hole during the first round, a magical exit from the bunker by 'Perro', shot of the day of the tournament.
Melbourne (IPA: ˈmɛlbərn) is the capital of the state of Victoria, in southeastern Australia, and is Australia's second most populous city after Sydney. It corresponds to the larger conurbation informally called Greater Melbourne or Greater Melbourne, made up of 31 municipalities which, collectively, contain about five million people, making it the second most populated urban area in the federation after Sydney. The municipality called City of Melbourne represents its historic center and is the capital of the State of Victoria.
Often referred to as "Cultural Capital of Australia" and "Garden City", Melbourne is an undisputed international cultural centre, and was the second city in the world after Edinburgh to be named a "Literary City" by UNESCO. Melbourne was the birthplace of Australian cinema (as well as the first feature film in the history of cinema), Australian television, Australian impressionist art and a long line of artistic currents, from music to literature. Multicultural city par excellence, Melbourne finds further points of excellence in sport and in the variety of foods and traditions. Also for this reason it has been named "the most livable city in the world" for seven consecutive years according to the special classification drawn up by The Economist.
