Nick Kyrgios indicated that he felt disrespected after Tennis Australia picked Ashleigh Barty as the winner of the 2022 Newcombe Medal.
Annually, Tennis Australia gives the Newcombe Medal to the country's most outstanding player and the best ambassador for the game.
Kyrgios, who enjoyed the season of his life in 2022, was in contention for the award but it was Barty that ended up winning a record fifth Newcombe Medal.
Through Instagram, Kyrgios addressed Tennis Australia not awarding him with the 2022 Newcombe Medal.
"Lol. No respect at all. I don't give a f---," Kyrgios wrote on his Instagram Story.

Barty made an outstanding start to the 2022 season, winning back-to-back titles at the Adelaide International and Australian Open.
After becoming the first Australian woman to win the Australian Open in 44 years, Barty shockingly announced her retirement from pro tennis in late March.
When it comes to Kyrgios, he started the season by winning the Australian Open men's doubles title with Thanasi Kokkinakis.
Then, Kyrgios made his first Grand Slam singles final at Wimbledon before losing to Novak Djokovic.
Even though Kyrgios had a very notable 2022 season, it wasn't enough for him to win the Newcombe Medal.
After winning a record fifth Newcombe Medal, Barty admitted she was proud of her achievement.
“This has obviously been a very big year in my career and in my life. We’ve had exceptional change, we’ve had an amazing year of celebrating a journey of not only myself, but my team, and there is so much to be proud of. I stand here very proudly knowing that I absolutely fulfilled every ounce that I could to this beautiful sport that brought me so much more than I could have ever dreamt. There are so many people behind the scenes that help me and allowed me to live out my dream and to discover what it felt like to work hard and really chase after something you love," Barty told Tennis Australia.
