Zverev secured the second set's sixth game with a backhand winner before Medvedev delivered another solid hold for a 4-3 lead, playing much better than in the opener. Alexander won a 14-stroke rally at 15-30 in game eight and sealed it with two service winners to lock the result at 4-4. The ninth game proved to be crucial, as Daniil folded under pressure. He wasted a game point and hit three terrible backhands right after the serve to suffer a break. Serving for the victory at 5-4, the German landed four winners to move over the top, firing his 20th service winner in the final point to advance into the last four.
