The Aramco Team Series - Sotogrande is shaping up to be the latest teaser for the 2023 Solheim Cup, with a host of big European names today joining American stars Nelly and Jessica Korda on the south coast of Spain next month.

Three-time major winner Anna Nordqvist of Sweden leads the golf superstars announced today for the $1 million tournament, which will also feature 2019 Solheim Cup Gleneagles hero Bronte Law of England.

They will be joined by the captain of that heroic European Team, the iconic Catriona Matthew, as well as another legend, Dame Laura Davies. Denmark's Nanna Koertz Madsen and Finland's Matilda Castren - both rookie winners of the 2021 Solheim Cup - will also play, as will former Team Europe member Anne Van Dam (NED).

Caroline Masson, a regular mainstay in the European Solheim Cup team with four participations in the last ten years, is another of the star names that will participate in the Sotogrande tournament, as well as the champion of the AIG Women's Open 2020, and also German, Sophia Popov.

At Club La Reserva, a course located just 20 km from Finca Cortesín, venue for next year's Solheim Cup, this large European group will face an American group. led by the Korda sisters - former world number one Nelly and six-time LPGA winner Jessica - and featuring players such as the defending Aramco Team Series singles champion from Sotogrande, Alison Lee, Lindsey Weaver-Wright, and the explosive record-breaker Kelly Whaley, whose eight birdies in a row during competition play earlier this year set a new LET mark.

The action promises to be non-stop as the Aramco Team Series returns to Spain with its unique mixed team and individual format for the second consecutive year, taking place from August 18-20.

Bronte Law, who claimed the individual title at last month's Aramco Team Series event in London, said: "It should be a great week! These Aramco Team Series events are so different from the golf we normally play...there's something about competing as a team and as an individual golfer at the same time that I think brings out the best in a lot of us, so I can't wait to hit the first tee and take part in another one next month.

"The quality of the course speaks for itself. I think some of us would be lying if we said we don't plan on returning to this part of the world a year later for Solheim. It will be an opportunity for many of the players competing to show what they are up to. done and I'm looking forward to it."

Catriona Matthew, who Law has chosen as captain at no fewer than three previous Aramco Team Series events, said: "When the Aramco Team Series was put on the LET schedule last year, they told us they wanted to try and bring women's golf to the higher. I don't think anyone can argue that they've actually done it."

"All the tournaments have an air of grandeur, they are very well organized and the prizes are obviously fantastic. But I think what we players like the most is being able to play golf. Playing as a team is something we don't usually do , but it is a format that brings a lot of excitement and opportunities, both for us and for those who see us live or on television. The atmosphere of these events in particular is very different, and we love being part of them."

Other big names announced today are the Australian Steph Kyriacou, the Slovenian Pia Babnik and the Swedish Linn Grant, who is currently second in the classification of the LET Race to the Costa del Sol and who in June became the first woman to win on the men's DP World Tour with victory in the Volvo Scandinavian Mixed.

They will join a packed field that will also feature a host of Spanish stars, including Solheim Cup hero Carlota Ciganda, up-and-coming Ana Peláez Triviño, Nuria Iturrioz and Carmen Alonso.
