After The Senior Open presented by Rolex, one of the majors for “over 50”, the Legends Tour restarts from the JCB Championship. The event will be held from 29 to 31 July on the course of the JCB Golf & Country Club in Uttoxeter, England, and will also see an Italian player: Emanuele Canonica.

Legends, schedule

In the field, among the favorites on the eve, is Darren Clarke who triumphed last week in Scotland at the Senior Open. In addition to the Northern Irishman, however, among others there will be legends such as Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Colin Montgomerie, John Daly and José Maria Olazàbal, for a total of 18 career majors (including 7 Open Championships).

Darren Christopher Clarke, OBE (born 14 August 1968 in Dungannon, County Tyrone) is a professional golfer from Northern Ireland who currently plays on the European Tour and has played on the PGA Tour. He has won 21 tournaments around the world on several of golf's top tours, including the European Tour, PGA Tour, Sunshine Tour and Japan Golf Tour. His biggest win came when he won The Open 2011 at the Royal St. George, England, his first major victory after more than 20 years and 54 attempts.

Clarke also won two World Golf Championship events, most notably the 2000 WGC-Andersen Consulting Match Play Championship, when he defeated Tiger Woods in the final. Clarke was ranked in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking for 43 weeks between 2000 and 2002.[2] His highest score on the European Tour prize list is his second, which he achieved in 1998, 2000 and 2003. Clarke is currently ranked as the seventh highest career money earner on the European Tour.

Clarke has represented Ireland as an amateur and professional, notably at the World Cup and Alfred Dunhill Cup, and was a member of five consecutive European Ryder Cup teams between 1997 and 2006.

Clarke turned pro in 1990 and played his first full season on the European Tour in 1991. He contested his first major championship at The Open Championship in 1991, suffering the cut before finishing tied for 64th. In 1992, Clarke had a solid season on the European Tour, finishing 41st in the Order of Merit, thus achieving his best career result, with a second place at the Honda Open. He finished three strokes behind champion Bernhard Langer.
