After beating Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round of Wimbledon 2022, Novak Djokovic answered interesting questions during the press conference, one of which was about his relationship with Australians after the January issues in Melbourne.

Nole explained: "The quality of tennis expressed by me today was really high. Much better than the level expressed in the first round match. I knew I should have started the game well today, because he is a dangerous opponent. He has a great serve and a great forehand. I didn't want to give it too much time.  I answered well. My performance was really satisfying.

Did I increase the intensity because I was playing against an Australian? My intensity is always the same in every game. I tried to follow my tactic and do what I had to do to win. I didn't have any extra motivation or a greater desire to win because I was challenging an Australian tennis player.

Thanasi is a good guy and we have a great relationship. On the court, of course, we always want to win. There was a lot of respect today and this is the most important thing. I have no hard feelings towards Australians."

Novak also on his performance

Djokovic also focused on the work he does during the changeover: "Every player is different. I try to use that time to hydrate, wipe sweat and breathe. These are techniques that have helped me throughout my career. Sometimes you don't even have a minute. With the new rules we have less time. I don't like it, honestly, I feel too much pressure. I understand that some players in the past, myself included, have bounced the ball too much on serve, but I think we have gone too far."

Djokovic qualified for the Wimbledon 2022 3rd round. Nole has definitely raised the level after the bad performance that characterized his debut on the lawns of the All England Club. The Serbian champion played an excellent game and defeated with the score of 6-1 6-4 6-2 Thanasi Kokkinakis.

The Serb conceded only one break point, in the last game of the match, and always worried his rival in response by finding great depth with both the forehand and the backhand. Djokovic will face countryman Miomir Kecmanovic in the third round, who has ousted Alejandro Tabilo from the tournament.
