Jannik Sinner talked about many issues, from Wimbledon 2022 to his new coach Darren Cahill. The Italian ended his experience in the London Slam very well and is preparing to face the two events on European clay-courts, before flying to USA for the season on hard-courts.
The Italian spoke of the Australian super coach: "It was to lend a hand to me and Simone Vagnozzi, whose work is fundamental. We focused a lot on the physique. We met with Darren before Roland Garros and we started to work on the serious in Eastbourne, even if it didn't go very well.
It can give me experience and programming on the one hand and some new variations in the field, which I believe have already been seen. The point for me is to have more information without getting confused. He is doing well and I'm happy."
From the point of view of the game he said: "The most important thing is not to lose my identity as a player. I am an aggressive tennis player with room for improvement in many aspects of the game. With Darren we started working on the service, changing something, and the results, even if they are already in sight, in my opinion will be visible in the months to come. What player I will be in two or five years I don't know, but I will certainly have more solutions than today and I will be more unpredictable. This is the goal."
Jannik Sinner praises Darren CahillThen he clarified: "It takes time to put everything you feel into the game in training. In Eastbourne I went to the net once while here, in the second round of Wimbledon, fifty. This does not mean that I will become a serve and volley player, just that I am adding things to my game. The maximum focus will be on American tournaments, from Cincinnati onwards."
The talented 20-year-old is not worried about injuries: "We had bad luck: I had blisters, I've been fighting with them for two and a half years. The only real hitch was Paris but I'm fine. I can play well on grass-courts. I think the player’s confidence counts a lot. If you feel good, if you have a feeling with the surface, you play better.
I am convinced that I will improve a lot and I will be able to play very well even on grass. In a couple of years I will have a much more varied service than today, while I think I already have mobility on this surface."
