Felix Auger-Aliassime said he successfuly predicted Novak Djokovic would win the Wimbledon final in four sets.

This past Sunday, Djokovic defeated Nick Kyrgios in the Wimbledon final 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (3) to lift his seventh title at The Championships.

While Djokovic and Kyrgios were preparing to meet in the Wimbledon final, Auger-Aliassime teamed up with Andy Murray for a practice in Newport.

Before the final, both Auger-Aliassime and Murray agreed Djokovic would win the final.

The difference was that Auger-Aliassime predicted Djokovic would win in four sets, while Murray expected the Serb to beat Kyrgios in three sets.

Auger-Aliassime: Djokovic once again showed what a great champion he is

“Before the final, we were practicing together and discussing what we think is going to happen and how we saw the match going. To talk with a tennis mind like his, it's always cool," Auger-Aliassime told Tennis.com. “We agreed. I predicted what happened for Djokovic in four sets. Andy thought maybe in three sets. But we all knew it could be tricky at the end of the day. We saw it was not an easy match, even for the one who won. It was interesting to see what Andy thought. Djokovic, once again, stepping up and showing what a champion he is, was quite remarkable and inspiring for sure."

Last year, Auger-Aliassime enjoyed a strong run at Wimbledon as he reached his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal there.

After a strong Wimbledon run in 2021, Auger-Aliassime didn't impress at The Championships this year.

Auger-Aliassime drew Maxime Cressy in the Wimbledon first round and ended up losing his opener at the tournament in four sets.

Since Auger-Aliassime accepted a main draw wildcard into Newport, his grass season wasn't over even after an early Wimbledon exit.

After a first round bye in Newport, Auger-Aliassime suffered a tight three set loss to Jason Kubler in the last-16.
