Emma Raducanu confirmed she wasn't dealing with any physical issues during her Wimbledon second round match but noted that the lack of matches going into Wimbledon certainly negatively affected her.
In the Wimbledon first round, Raducanu saw off Alison van Uytvanck.
On Wednesday, Raducanu crashed out of Wimbledon after Caroline Garcia handed her a 6-3 6-3 loss.
Raducanu sustained a side injury in her first grass match of the year as she was forced to retire to Viktorija Golubic in the Nottingham first round.
Raducanu played a total of seven games on grass leading up to Wimbledon.
“I didn’t feel anything out there," Raducanu said, per Tennishead. “I declared myself fully fit when I walked out onto the court on the first day. But I’ve played seven hours of tennis in a month. To even compete with these girls at this level and win a round I think is a pretty good achievement.”
Raducanu not worried about her resultsRaducanu, 19, has struggled with her game and results since her US Open triumph.
However, it should be noted that she is playing her first full season on the Tour.
After the Garcia loss, Raducanu explained that she is using this year to gain as much experience as she can.
“It’s just great for me to get all these lessons at such a young age so that when I’m in my mid-20s, I’ll have those issues or little glitches in my game sorted," Raducanu explained. “I’ll just get better. I’ll just look at what’s not working, what my weaknesses are, improve them. It’s good for me. These lessons are coming every single week. It’s just a reminder you got to do this, this, and that. It comes from different players so it just highlights it. It’s just something to improve on.”
Raducanu's grass season is now over and she is expected to return to action at the Citi Open in Washington, which starts on August 1.
