No one has been able to win the Roland Garros title 14 times without ever being defeated in a final and losing just three games overall in Paris. Really impressive numbers for Rafael Nadal, who can enjoy another success in his second home, despite his advancing age and a physique obviously not in top condition.
After the final act, won against the Norwegian Casper Ruud, there were many congratulations and considerations expressed by the experts on the Spaniard.
Also his uncle Toni Nadal, who immediately expressed himself on the foot problem that is tormenting Rafa in the last period in an interview with Antena 3, talking about the amazing achievement got by Rafa in Paris.
Toni's words about RafaToni explained: "I have known the injury well for a long time and I have always had fear that he would force him to leave tennis early. But, in the end, he was able to live with pain, that's why every triumph is a double tennis and personal merit. A few years ago, after a match in Monte Carlo, he told me he was tired of having pain ; quite normal.
There are times when you have ups and downs, times when you wonder if the pain is so worth bearing. When you see that you are still capable of winning important titles, it gives you that extra strength."
The Toni added: "I don't know how far he can go but I like to see where he went. What he achieved is incredible, I still remember the first time he won. The truth is that he thought he would repeat some other triumph, but not even in my wildest dreams I would have imagined he would be able to do it 13 more times.
Winning again here in Paris was special, he knows that he doesn't have many chances of winning left and that's why each of these last statements enjoys them much more."
